Golden Oak Mining's Sapphire Plant Switcher Locomotive Decal Placement Diagram

~Supplement~

Main Page > PIP Main > pip-gold.html
This information has been designed to accompany the "Placement Diagram" supplied with your Golden Oak locomotive decals. Please refer to the Coal Belt Library website for photographs of the prototype as well as a description of how to model Unit 1 or Unit 2

"New Scheme Old Scheme" - "Note old scheme has straight Leaf, new has turned Leaf". This is something I noticed after looking at photographs of these locomotives taken in 1986 and 1999. The older style herald's golden oak leaf has it's tip pointed straight up, while the newer herald's leaf is pointed to the right a bit. No, the decal is not turned itself, just the leaf in the center. When I asked a Golden Oak executive about it, he said that evidently the herald changed over time.... I did not get a good date for when this herald change took place, though I do know that the units were repainted in approximately 1996 or '97.

Other differences between the 1986 and 1999 photographs include the darker blue on the current scheme, and the new "odd" American flag on the nose of the current scheme.

Here are two photos I took of SW7 Unit #1 during construction. The first photo shows where some of the detail parts are located, while the second photo shows the frame and pilots. I hope these help.
