Ale8-1 Delivery Trucks

The Ale8-1 delivery trucks can be modeled
using the Con-Cor/Herpa pop trucks without much modification. They currently
are painted in two schemes, Yellow and Orange. There is some diversity
in the type of graphics applied, especially on the Orange scheme.

the rear decal on all four sides of the box, with the same sticker on the
door as the delivery trucks. |
I drove by the Ale-8-1
factory and saw these trucks evidently parked for good... They all were
older model Chevy C70 trucks with 5 compartment beds.
** Note - Truck 31 had all
the compartment doors rolled up, so the graphics on the sides of the bed
were not visible.
*** Note -Truck 35 had "ALE-(3
bottles)-8-1" on the front of the bed and 6 `6-ounce bottles in a fan pattern
on the rear. Sides were not visible. |
Orange
- PollyScale Reefer Orange 414119 with White
(PollyScale Reefer White) hood top, cab roof, and bed roof
Yellow
- Not a Railroad color, try a model car paint..... I'm still working on
this shade, just give me time.......
Description of Graphics
(Revised)
It appears that there are
generally two types of graphics: Older bottles and hand-painted logos
(on older orange trucks); and the Newer bottles and printed logos (on newer
orange trucks and all yellow trucks). The amount, location, and style
of these graphics vary wildly from truck to truck, with evidently no set
style for the fleet. I have yet to see two trucks, no matter the
paint scheme, with the same graphics in the same locations.
For example: Yellow
truck (109) had two bottles on the rear (each side of the sign) and
two bottles on the sides. Yellow truck 51 had three bottles on the
sides, located on the odd number compartment doors, plus two bottles on
the rear (like 109). Orange trucks 40, 43 and 45 must have been some of
the last orange trucks, because they have the newer graphics, but not many
on them at all. 43 has the small logo and bottle on the door, but only
the logo on the rear of the bed. 45 has only one bottle on the side and
rear, each place it was to the left when facing that portion of the truck.
When
I saw the parked orange trucks (29, 31 and 37), I noticed that all these
older trucks appeared to have hand-painted lettering and some graphics
! These orange trucks had different graphics than the yellow or even
newer orange trucks, specifically they had graphics depicting the aluminum
cans and the "fat bottles" (12 ounce with a foam/paper label), and even
the 16 ounce bottle was a different graphic than the newer (current) graphic.
Oddballs
Even with the oddities
of the amount and location of the graphics on these trucks, there are even
weirder things on the roster.... Take yellow
truck 108 for example: it's a box-bed delivery truck, presumably
to deliver the machines to stores and mass quantities of the Ale to distributors....
it has the normal graphics as the other delivery trucks, but placed differently.
Another example is this
little trailer.... They have 3 or 4 of these trailers, and (surprise)
all are painted differently !!!
